How to Choose Your Topic for Your Essay Topic About Epic of Gilgamesh and Beowulf
How to Choose Your Topic for Your Essay Topic About Epic of Gilgamesh and BeowulfWhen your topic is Epic of Gilgamesh and Beowulf, don't just accept the first few sentences you see. I mean...who wouldn't want to see that epic? I know I would!Take your own version of the Epic, but make it perfect. (I love this line from one of my favorite TV shows...that's a perfect example of someone who has made a perfect example.)Choose a theme for your essay. You can start with a basic theme. Many people use quotes and sayings as their themes, like, quote the classic I Am A Child, or Quote of the Day (which is funny because the crowd is cheering and clapping in the back! ), and then turn that into a world and character theme. What else could you turn into a character theme? I've used a lot of slang words like 'macaroni'tater tot,' and turned that into a whole story about (some) members of the cast. Now the next question is, which characters are in the cast, and how are they related to each other?Ke ep in mind that for some of these characters, you may need to talk to someone or find some people who may be a great support group. Do they remember the short stories they read when they were younger, or how the original Beowulf novel started? You may even want to mention something in your essay about a memory, or a piece of advice that came from someone in a person's life. Think about how helpful that would be to a reader. In fact, that's the whole point of the essay...to bring a person into your story and relationship with them.Write from your own personal perspective. Remember, your essay is supposed to be creative, not clever. However, you can use a clever idea here and there, so that you can add in an extra touch of your own.You can rewrite the poem for the sake of changing names or changing the placement of objects, but you'll find that the theme still remains. Remember, the theme is the most important element of the essay, and if you haven't chosen it, make sure it's one of th e very first things you consider.
